What CAPA software has to prove in a regulated audit
Corrective and preventive action sits at the point where a quality system either learns or repeats itself. ISO 9001 clause 10.2, ISO 13485 and FDA expectations all ask for more than a closed ticket: a defined problem, root cause analysis, action proportionate to risk, verification that the action worked, and a record linking back to the originating nonconformance, complaint or audit finding. Software earns its place when those links are automatic rather than reconstructed before an inspection.
A positioning note matters. This page covers regulated CAPA platforms, systems that hold CAPA as a validated, auditable record. The process guide on corrective action tracking software covers ISO 9001 corrective action tracking as a working method. Read it first if ownership and escalation are still unclear, then return here for platform choice.
Scores below are desk research totals from published evidence only, never hands on testing. How they are weighted is explained on how we evaluate QMS software. For the wider platform picture, see the best QMS software comparison.

CAPA rarely fails alone. It fails where the intake record is weak, so compare this shortlist alongside nonconformance management software before deciding.
MasterControl: deep life science CAPA
MasterControl Quality Excellence is positioned for life sciences only, covering pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device manufacturers as a vendor claim. CAPA, nonconformance and complaint handling are all evidenced, and the sheet records product complaint forms within its Advanced Quality Event Management material. That framing suits CAPAs fed by several sources.
Our MasterControl review details the validation position, including the vendor described Validation Excellence Tool. The vendor does not publish pricing, so a quotation is required. Third party listings should not be treated as a vendor price. The practical caution is weight: ease scored 7.8 out of 10 in desk research, and mid market and enterprise organisations form the main fit, so a small team should test whether its CAPA volume justifies the administration.
ComplianceQuest: CAPA inside Salesforce
ComplianceQuest is Salesforce native and fully cloud based, which changes the CAPA conversation. Investigations, approvals and effectiveness checks can sit beside customer, supplier and operational records already held in Salesforce, and the sheet evidences integrations with ERP, MES, PLM, LIMS and CRM systems. CAPA, complaints and nonconformance are all evidenced, and the vendor manufacturing material lists a broad standards set as vendor claims.
See our ComplianceQuest review for the platform detail. Pricing is quote based per user and per module, with Salesforce licence costs on top, and the vendor does not publish pricing. Capterra lists 30 dollars per user per month as a starting price, recorded here only as a third party estimate. Organisations without Salesforce should price that dependency honestly.
Octave Reliance: configurable CAPA for large manufacturers
Octave Reliance, formerly ETQ Reliance, targets enterprise manufacturing across medical devices, electronics, aerospace, food and beverage, automotive, consumer goods and pharmaceuticals, per Capterra material in the sheet. The vendor describes more than 40 applications including CAPA, and the sheet evidences CAPA, complaints, calibration and nonconformance together. That breadth suits groups running one CAPA method across unlike plants.
Our Octave Reliance review covers its platform licensing, which is quote based with applications and services as paid add ons, and the vendor does not publish pricing. Configurability is the strength and the risk in equal measure: a highly tailored CAPA workflow can drift from corporate method unless governance is firm, and reviewers on G2 have raised cost concerns for smaller companies.
QT9 QMS: highest rated CAPA evidence for mid market teams
QT9 records the strongest review evidence on this page, at 4.8 out of 5 on both G2 and Capterra, and the highest desk research total here at 8.5 out of 10. All core modules are evidenced, and CAPA sits alongside complaint and recall management, change control and nonconformance. The vendor says the system is pre-validated at no extra cost with IQ, OQ and PQ documentation built in.
Our QT9 QMS review sets out licensing per concurrent user per year, with all modules included at one price, plus a free trial. The vendor does not publish pricing. ITQlick estimates, labelled as estimates only, put the range at 1,700 to 2,200 dollars per user per year. Use the trial to run a real overdue CAPA with an effectiveness check, because that workflow, not the intake form, reveals fit.
AssurX and Intelex: two different routes without profile pages
AssurX has no profile page on this site, so this section stands alone. The sheet evidences every core module including CAPA, calibration and complaints, for regulated industries from life sciences to energy and utilities. Its history began with a product promoted as a Corrective Action Tracking System, which shows in the CAPA emphasis. Capterra lists audit management, CAPA, change control and complaint handling among pre-configured modules. Pricing is quote based and not published, deployment covers cloud and on premise, and review counts are small at 14 on G2 and 25 on Capterra, so evidence depth is thinner than the headline ratings suggest.
Intelex also has no profile page here. Its quality applications evidence document management, nonconformance reporting, CAPA, audits and inspections, complaints and FMEA related tools, within a wider EHSQ platform. That wider platform is the reason to choose it: CAPA that must share data with safety and environmental programmes gains from one record set. The G2 figure belongs to Intelex EHSQ rather than a quality only listing, so weight it accordingly. Pricing for the quality applications is not published by the vendor.
Evidence note and practical question
Evidence note: ratings, counts, module flags, standards and totals come from the product data sheet checked on 21 October 2026, using the G2 and Capterra sources named in the frontmatter and table. Vendor standards are vendor claims, not certification by this site. Unpublished pricing is described as such.
Practical question: take your three most difficult CAPAs from the last year, including one that failed its effectiveness check, and require every vendor to demonstrate those records, with links back to the source event, in a scripted session. The platform handling that awkward history cleanly is usually the right choice.
