Choosing quality management software is rarely about finding the longest feature list. Most established platforms now cover document control, CAPA, audits, training and supplier quality. The real differences sit in standards fit, how much configuration your team must carry, whether validation support is included, and how honestly a vendor will talk about price before a sales call. This guide compares 16 platforms on published evidence only, scores them with a consistent desk research method, and then splits the recommendations by the kind of organisation buying.
The short verdict by buyer type is this. A small ISO certified business that wants published prices and a long trial should start with isoTracker. A general manufacturer in the small to mid market range should start with QT9 QMS, which pairs the joint highest module score in this set with the strongest review ratings. A medical device company should look first at Greenlight Guru for design control and risk alongside quality processes, or SimplerQMS where validation is included in the subscription. A pharmaceutical or biotech enterprise already committed to a wider platform should weigh MasterControl, Veeva Vault Quality or TrackWise Digital. A food and beverage manufacturer running GFSI programmes across sites should start with SafetyChain, the only food specialist in this set.
The 16 platforms compared
Ratings below are review platform data as checked on 21 October 2026, reported with their review counts because a high score from a handful of reviews means something different from the same score across hundreds. Scores are desk research totals out of 10, explained in the next section.

| Qualio | Life science SMBs prioritising ease of use | Quote based, per edit user, tiered plans | 4.4 (781 reviews) | 4.6 (138 reviews) | 7.9 |
| Arena QMS | Product companies wanting PLM and QMS in one system | Quote based, role based subscription | 4.2 (464 reviews) | 4.4 (117 reviews) | 7.9 |
| Octave Reliance | Large manufacturers wanting a highly configurable enterprise platform | Quote based, platform licensing | 4.3 (624 reviews) | 4.5 (57 reviews) | 7.8 |
| SafetyChain | Food and beverage manufacturers running GFSI programmes across facilities | Quote based, per facility yearly | 4.5 (118 reviews) | 4.6 (93 reviews) | 7.6 |
| TrackWise Digital | Life science enterprises with TrackWise heritage moving to cloud | Quote based, per user | 3.8 (7 reviews) | 4.3 (15 reviews) | 7.4 |
Two cautions apply to the whole table. First, review counts differ between platforms and between regional listings of the same platform, so treat ratings as directional evidence rather than precise rankings. Second, a lower total does not mean a poor product. TrackWise Digital and SafetyChain score lower mainly on pricing transparency and narrower standards evidence, yet each is a strong fit inside its home sector.
How to read these scores
Every total is a weighted desk research score built from published evidence, not hands-on testing. Standards and compliance fit carries 25 percent, module depth 25 percent, ease of use and implementation 20 percent, pricing transparency and value 15 percent, and support and vendor stability 15 percent. A vendor earns pricing points for publishing real figures, which is why SimplerQMS and isoTracker score well there while several capable enterprise platforms score poorly. The full method, including how conflicting sources are handled, is set out in how we evaluate QMS software.
Read the table by segment before reading it by score. A platform scoring 8.0 for a multi-standard enterprise brief may be a worse buy for a 20 person ISO 9001 business than a platform scoring 8.0 for modular simplicity, because the underlying criteria reward different things. Then check the review counts: Qualio has the largest G2 base in this set at 781 reviews, while isoTracker has only 4 G2 reviews, so its 4.6 G2 rating rests on far thinner evidence.
Top picks by segment
Sector requirements change the ranking more than any single score does, so each segment has its own detailed shortlist.
For medical device companies, where design control, risk management to ISO 14971 and FDA 21 CFR Part 820 evidence matter, see the best QMS software for medical device companies. Greenlight Guru and SimplerQMS lead that list, with Qualio close behind on ease of use.
For pharmaceutical companies working under GMP, 21 CFR Part 11 and Annex 11 expectations, see the best QMS software for pharmaceutical companies. MasterControl, Veeva Vault Quality and TrackWise Digital dominate there, and validation approach matters more than headline module counts.
For general manufacturing, where ISO 9001 depth, calibration and supplier quality usually decide the purchase, see the best QMS software for manufacturing. QT9 QMS, Intellect and Octave Reliance (formerly ETQ Reliance) cover the range from mid-market to enterprise.
For food and beverage producers managing HACCP, FSMA and GFSI schemes such as SQF and BRCGS, see the best QMS software for food and beverage, where SafetyChain is the specialist benchmark.
For laboratories working to ISO 17025, see the best QMS software for laboratories. QT9 QMS, Ideagen and isoTracker all evidence ISO 17025 support in this data set.
For aerospace and defence suppliers audited against AS9100, see the best QMS software for aerospace and defence. QT9 QMS, ComplianceQuest, Ideagen and Arena QMS all list AS9100 among their evidenced standards.
Pricing honesty: what vendors will and will not tell you
Only three of these 16 vendors publish usable price figures. The vendor states that SimplerQMS starts at USD 17,500 per year as a minimum subscription covering up to 15 users, with implementation, validation and training included. Greenlight Guru states that quality subscriptions start at $12,000 per year, with implementation priced separately. isoTracker figures appear on its Capterra listing and in vendor provided G2 pricing, starting at $460.30 per user per year for the Basic tier. Every other platform in this guide requires a quotation, and third party estimates for the same product sometimes conflict with each other by a wide margin. Our QMS software pricing guide sets out every published figure and labelled estimate in one table, and explains why quote only pricing is so common in this market.
Buying by module, not just by platform
Some teams do not need a full suite at once. A business with controlled documents in good order but weak corrective action may get more value from the strongest CAPA workflow it can adopt quickly. If that is your position, compare the dedicated tools in the best CAPA software guide before committing to a platform migration. Module depth scores in this guide can help here too: QT9 QMS, ComplianceQuest, AssurX, Intellect, Ideagen, Intelex and Octave Reliance all score 9.6 for module depth, while isoTracker scores 7.4 because supplier, calibration and a distinct change control module were not evidenced.
Three profiles worth reading in full
The QT9 QMS review covers the strongest all rounder for smaller manufacturers: all ten core modules evidenced, a free trial, pre-validated deployment at no extra cost according to the vendor, and the highest review ratings in this set, balanced against quote only pricing that limits early comparison.
The MasterControl review examines the life sciences heavyweight. Its support score of 9.0 is the joint highest here and its review base is large on both platforms, but calibration sits outside the Quality Excellence product and pricing transparency is the weakest area of its profile.
The Greenlight Guru review looks at the medical device specialist: design control and risk sit inside the same system as post-market quality processes, validation documentation is included with the subscription according to the vendor, and published starting prices make early budgeting possible.
Costs, return and the wider selection picture
Subscription price is only part of the outlay. Implementation, validation work, extra modules and, for ComplianceQuest, the underlying Salesforce licences all change the real figure. Before signing, run your own numbers through the QMS software ROI calculator using the time your team currently spends on document chasing, audit preparation and spreadsheet reporting. For the broader selection method behind this guide, the quality management software guide covers digital QMS features in depth, and how to choose QMS software walks through building a shortlist, running trials and writing requirements your vendors must answer against.
Evidence note: product facts, ratings, review counts and prices in this article come from vendor pages and the G2 and Capterra listings named in the sources, checked on 21 October 2026. Vendor compliance statements are reported as vendor claims, not as certification by this site.
Practical question
If you had to defend one platform choice to your next external auditor and your finance lead at the same time, which row of the table survives both conversations, and what evidence from this page would you take into the room?
